Entry for April 16, 2007

So the first encounter with the phidget interfacekit was to play around with the API.

Phidgets work with C#, C++, Java, so I picked C#, for that first I got a copy of the Visual Studio Express C# 2005, and the library for the .NET 2.0 Library(which comes with the phidget.msi)

Note that I also have Vista Ultimate on my machine.

After setting up my dev env up, I connected the interface kit to one of my free USB ports, and saw
Phidget Manager popup (A System Tray app for monitoring phidgets and controlling the Webservice).

Basically you can use this Manager to control the
PhidgetWebservice to communicate with your phidgets via a network.

BUT, ofcourse this did not work on my Vista box, I suppose one of the firewall, or security issues vista has all the time on running even the simplest things. So I definetly need to look at that in the future, but not today, hence controlling over network is not a high priority for me.

Anyways, with that being said, now I beleive I should be ready to do my first "hello world, how much force do your read force sensor" code :)

I'll keep you guys posted...
